Joan’s fitness journey began as a competitive gymnast and evolved into a passion for health and fitness. She started weightlifting seven years ago and noticed how it transformed her mind, health, and confidence. After retiring from gymnastics, she began strength training but struggled with consistency due to a lack of intrinsic motivation.
Following a challenging period in her life, she turned to exercise as an outlet and began weightlifting to improve her mental health, rather than focusing on physical changes. This experience led her to understand how life-changing exercise can be when integrated into daily life, and she was finally able to maintain consistency. Joan truly believes that all kinds of movement are medicine for the mind and body.
After earning a degree in Economics from CU Boulder, Joan decided to become a personal
trainer because she found helping people achieve the benefits of fitness to be more rewarding and fulfilling than anything else. She believes that exercise enhances quality of life, physical health, and mental well-being, and she aims to guide others toward these benefits. Joan is dedicated to helping individuals achieve positive change through personalized approaches while fostering a healthy relationship with exercise. She believes that anyone can become strong and feel empowered through exercise with proper guidance and without judgment.

Although staying consistent with new lifestyle habits can be challenging and intimidating, Joan aspires to support others in this journey. She advocates for a holistic approach to exercise that can be maintained for a lifetime and can help navigate away from gimmicks and quick fixes that the fitness industry often promotes.
When she’s not in the gym, Joan can be found discovering new restaurants or seeking out
anywhere she can listen to live music. She also revisits her gymnastics roots by practicing and performing aerial dancing for fun. Additionally, she enjoys spending time outdoors, whether it’s soaking up the sun at a park with friends or taking in beautiful views in nature.
